Biography
Meet Yvita Bustos
Implementation Specialist
Yvita Bustos, Ph.D., is a clinical child psychologist focused on promoting resilience and expanding access to evidence-based mental health care for youth and families.
Dr. Bustos earned her doctorate in child clinical psychology from Loyola University Chicago, where she examined positive parenting behaviors as protective factors that buffer the impact of stress on child symptoms among low-income Latino immigrant families. Dr. Bustos was certified in PCIT at the University of Chicago and has contributed to research adapting PCIT strategies for use in schools through Teacher-Child Interaction Training-Universal (TCIT-U).
As an assistant professor in psychiatry and behavioral sciences at Northwestern University, her research focuses on implementing and disseminating culturally responsive, evidence-based interventions and on building trauma-responsive, healing-centered environments. Clinically, Dr. Bustos also provides psychotherapy with children and families exposed to trauma.
